Tata Motors India, which has made significant progress in the last few years, is preparing to launch its second electric model. This car is actually an electric version of the Tigor sedan and the EV extension has been added to its name. It is said that this compact electric sedan with a full charge can cover a distance of up to 300 km and will probably be sold for less than $ 20,000 (within 500 million Tomans).
Like the Nexon EV, the Tiger EV is equipped with the same Ziptron power module, but the battery is smaller and uses a 26 kW pack instead of the 30.2 kWh pack. If connected to a high-speed charging socket, 80% of the battery capacity will be charged within 60 minutes. Tata has announced a range of 312 km for the Nexon EV, and considering the light weight of the Tigor EV, a mileage of about 300 km seems reasonable for this car.
But the interesting thing is that a published image of the display behind the steering wheel shows a distance of 204 km with a remaining charge of 59%. If this image is real, then the EV Tiger should be able to travel more than 300 km.
Inside the cabin, the Tigor EV is not much different from the petrol model, and they are painted blue only to distinguish some parts. 7-inch display with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Otto, audio system with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters, control buttons on the steering wheel, automatic air conditioning system and digital display behind the steering wheel are the features of this car. In terms of safety equipment, such as dual airbags, ABS brakes with electronic distribution system, sensors and rear parking camera, and reminding to fasten the seat belt.
Interestingly, the propulsion power of the Tata Igor EV is announced as 55 kW, which is equivalent to 74 horsepower. Its torque is also mentioned as 170 Nm, and the Indians claim that based on this propulsion, the Tigor EV will accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.7 seconds, a figure that seems far-fetched but would be quite admirable if realized.
In any case, there is not much time until the release of more details of Tata Tigor EV, and to know the full specifications of this electric car, we have to wait until August 31 (September 9). It is not bad to know that from this date, Tata Motors will also register the orders of interested customers.
The final price of the Tigor EV has not been announced at this time, but the down payment for the car has been announced at Rs 21,000, which is equivalent to approximately $ 280. It is likely that this car will be priced lower than the Nexon EV, a model that is priced between approximately 19 to 22.5 thousand dollars.
