An F-35 fighter fired $ 2.5 million in damage

The F-35 is the most expensive weapon ever built. Recently, one of these fighters was damaged due to the activation of the Gatling machine gun, but it landed successfully.

Earlier this month, an F-35B Joint Strike fighter flying over Arizona damaged $ 2.5 million. A U.S. Marine Corps spokesman said the pilot was unharmed. The pilot also managed to land the plane on the ground. The Pentagon does not yet know the exact cause and how the incident happened, and the matter is still under investigation.

According to reports The F-35 fighter was on a training flight at the time of the accident on the night of March 13, 2010. The fighter was equipped with a Gatling machine gun that suddenly fired high explosive bullets and penetrated armor. Apparently, during the training, the machine gun started firing the bullets and the bullet exploded, eventually damaging the underside of the aircraft.

After the pilot landed, the US Navy began inspecting the fighter and classified it as a Class A crash. Class A are the most serious incidents, and accidents fall into this category when a person is killed in a particular weapon, the entire fighter jet is lost, or property is damaged by $ 2.5 million or more.

The F-35 is the most expensive weapon ever built, and the production of any B, the same type used by the Marines, is priced at $ 135.8 million. The total cost of the F-35 production program is estimated to be more than $ 1 trillion over its lifetime. The aircraft has faced numerous problems since its inception by Lockheed Martin in 2006. In May 2020, a $ 175 million F-35 fighter jet crashed and caught fire after being overturned and eventually destroyed. In 2014, another landing occurred during takeoff, and in 2016, another aircraft caught fire in the air.

In 2019, a number of reporters reported several fires on the F-35 fighter. The plane is said to be suffering from a fuel leak due to design flaws, which is causing it to catch fire. Despite the increasing problems of the F-35 fighter, its high costs can not be ignored. The U.S. Air Force recently admitted that it was looking for an alternative jet to the F-35.
