Android 13 is installed on only 12% of Android phones

Android 13 is installed on only 12% of Android phones

Back in the old days, when things were better than now, Google used to make monthly Android distribution statistics available on a website. These days, however, Google’s transparency has become less, and probably the reason for this is the company’s disappointing performance in providing operating system updates. The latest statistics also show that only 12% of Android phone users are equipped with the Android 13 operating system.

It is no secret that the speed of providing Android updates is not comparable to its competitor, i.e. iOS, and this issue has made Apple mercilessly mock its counterpart. The published statistics of the distribution of new versions of Android are such that even Android users may give Apple the right in this regard. Google’s lack of transparency in this field has worsened the situation. The world’s search giant currently provides sparse reporting through Android Studio. But these reports are not updated quickly. For example, the last report was from January and now we are seeing an update after a few months.

Disappointing percentage of distribution of Android 13 and even 12

Compared to January, Android’s market share among Android devices has more than doubled, from 5% to 12.1%. This percentage of progress can be very impressive in itself, of course, only if you don’t pay attention to the fact that 8 months have passed since the release of this version of the operating system and we will gradually see the unveiling of its replacement version.

but this is not the whole story. Android 12 has been even more disappointing, and even though it’s been more than a year since its release, it’s only installed on 13.3 percent of Android devices. Therefore, we can expect that its successor, that is, Android 13, can have a better situation in the future.

in between Disappointing reportWe see that Samsung has been able to effectively improve the status of its updates. Chinese companies like OnePlus, Oppo and Realme have also been very quick.

The strange thing about the Android distribution chart is that today Android 11, which was released in 2020, is the most used version of Android. While it has been two and a half years since its release, it has taken 23.5% of the market share. That’s more than Android 12 and 12L, which together hold 16.5 percent of the Android market.
