Apple has 42% of global smartphone sales

Based on the last reports According to Counterpoint Research, the revenue from the sale of smartphones in the world decreased by 3% compared to the same period of the previous year, but Apple still experienced good growth in this sector with 42% of the phone market. With the growing adoption of 5G, phones supporting this feature accounted for 46% of the market in one quarter.

Counterpoint also notes that 5G-enabled phones cost five times more than non-5G smartphones. According to published statistics, Apple remained at the top of the sales chart in the third quarter of 2022 and took 42% of the global smartphone revenue, which is the period between July and September.

This represents Apple’s overall sales growth compared to Apple’s previous year’s revenue of 37.1 percent. During these three months, Apple launched iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple’s third-quarter revenue rose 10 percent year-over-year, while the company’s annual average selling price also rose 7 percent in the third quarter of this year.

Apple sales 42 percent

Counterpoint pointed out that the sales of iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have had an impact on the overall sales performance of Apple phones compared to last year. During the quarter, the world’s other largest phone maker, Samsung, accounted for 18.3 percent of global smartphone revenue, nearly half of Apple’s. However, the decline in Samsung’s sales compared to last year was very small with 18.5%.

However, the average selling price of Samsung phones increased by only 2%, and this amount is also due to the launch of the expensive Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip phones. The income from the sale of Samsung phones during the third quarter of this year has decreased by 4% compared to last year.

Xiaomi stands in third place with a share of 8.3% of the total global revenue of the phone market in the third quarter of 2022. This performance is mostly thanks to strong sales in the low- to mid-range markets, and the company’s global sales have also increased by 4% compared to last year.
