Apple Watch Series 9 S9 chip, based on the A15 Bionic chip

Apple Watch Series 9 S9 chip, based on the A15 Bionic chip

At the end of this year, Apple is not only going to introduce the new iPhone 15 phones, but it is also likely to introduce the new generation of Apple Watch, the Apple Watch Series 9. The design of the Apple Watch Series 9 is not going to change significantly from the Series 8, but instead, the watchOS 10 operating system will be the biggest software update of the Apple Watch since the first series. In addition, it is said that the Apple Watch Series 9 is going to be equipped with the new S9 chip, which will be developed based on the A15 Bionic processor. This means the S9 processor will be a 5nm processor.

The new information was published by “Mark Gorman”, a well-known technology analyst and on the Discord channel of “Power On” (Mark’s own new media). Just to remind you, the Apple Watch Series 8 was equipped with the S8 processor, which was actually the same processor as its predecessor two years ago, and was not particularly different from the processor used in the Apple Watch Series 6. It is true that Apple introduced it as a new chip, but its technical performance was not particularly different from its previous chips, S6 and S7.

But as Mark believes, Apple plans to develop the new S9 chip used in the Apple Watch Series 9 based on the 5nm A15 Bionic processor, and this is a positive change. Using a 5nm node for the S9 chip significantly improves its technical performance and charging compared to previous generations. In smart watches, charging is the first word, and the optimal performance of the S9 processor in managing energy consumption can significantly improve the charging performance of Apple Watch Series 9 compared to Series 8. In addition, the watchOS 10 operating system can use the increased processing power of this processor.

The fact that Apple plans to use a new and updated architecture for the S9 processor is a positive change overall. In addition, Apple has the use of 3 nm node in its agenda, and future generations of this company’s smart watches can use the extraordinary efficiency of this node. Of course, it is likely that Apple will use the 5nm node for Apple Watch processors for several years before the 3nm node.
