Former football star David Beckham has invested in Lonaz. Founded in 2018, the British startup specializes in remodeling classic cars and equipping them with electric propulsion. It has been announced that David Beckham has bought a 10% stake in the startup.
Prior to Beckham, the Rueben and Barclay families also invested in Lonaz. After the popular star joined the shareholders, Lonaz announced the expansion of its activities and plans. Equipping industrial and commercial vehicles with green engines is part of these programs.
The Lonaz group actually has three sub-categories. These subsets include Lunaz Design, Lunaz Applied Technologies and Lunaz Powertrain.
As can be guessed, the design department is responsible for converting classic models to new models. The technology department should re-engineer and upgrade commercial vehicles, and the propulsion department should be responsible for developing propulsion for selected vehicles or other automakers.
The first step in Lonaz’s new strategy is to convert or reproduce trucks and other heavy vehicles. According to the company, by 2030, when internal combustion engines will be removed from the main markets, there will be more than two billion gasoline and diesel vehicles on the planet. Lonaz believes that with the help of reproduction, upgrading and electrification of these cars, a significant part of them can be prevented from being worn out and polluted.
David Lorenz, co-founder and CEO of Lunaz, added that the brand’s approach saves fleet costs and reduces waste of resources in global carbonation policy.
It is worth mentioning that Lonaz has become famous by renovating and equipping models such as Rolls-Royce Phantom, Bentley Continental and Ranger Classic. With the policy adopted by this company in order to expand its activities, 500 new jobs will be created by 2024.
