Recently SkatterBencher a video and a long article of the operation Overclocking AMD’s flagship processor Ryzen 9 7950X3D It has published up to 5.9 GHz frequency. On the other hand, Der8rauer did not sit idle and praised this processor.
Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor overclock
You cannot find an option to set the frequency of Ryzen 7000X3D processors in the motherboard menus. In fact, these processors are officially and factory unoverclockable, at least in the general and traditional ways. Of course, regular users can still use the features of Precision Boost Overdrive 2 or AMD EXPO to improve the performance of their processor, but the full potential of these processors is still not released.

SkatterBencher has been able to figure out what happens on 3D V-Cache CPU platforms, such as the Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and how to overclock them. It seems that CCD0, which has more cache, has a lower maximum frequency (5250MHz) and a maximum voltage of 1.2V, while CCD1, which has no additional cache, reaches a maximum frequency of 5750MHz and a voltage of 1.4V. For comparison, the R9 7950X processor has a maximum frequency of 5850 MHz and a maximum voltage of 1.475 V.

By enabling PBO2 and accessing the voltage/frequency curve, this overclocker has been able to push the processor to higher frequencies. This operation requires a lot of adjustments, but after doing it, the maximum frequency of the processor reaches 5900 MHz. This operation involves lowering the voltage/frequency curve to force the processor frequency higher. Of course, there is another method for this, and that is to use the ECLK feature.
By increasing the ECLK (External Clock Generator) to 105 MHz, the frequency and temperature and voltage limit points of “5 GHz/1.1 V/50°” are moved to 5.2 GHz, without changing the temperature and voltage.

In short, Ryzen 7000X3D processors are overclockable, and overclocking these processors is not that impossible; But overclocking them requires changing ECLK settings and V/F curve, which are difficult for some users. Of course, the final result depends on the power of the cooling system, the type of motherboard used, and of course the quality of the processor silicon.
Delid by Der8rauer
Maybe in the future, we will hear more news about overclocking the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, because overclocker Der8rauer has also tested this processor. Delithing means removing the processor’s top cover (IHS) and replacing the paste underneath with a high-quality paste or liquid metal, and sometimes replacing the IHS itself with copper or nickel samples.
