Dell shortly after the introduction of the new generation of Intel processors called “Rocket Lake S”, an updated version of the Alienware and XPS desktops with these chips Unveiled.
The Alienware Aurora R12 and XPS desktops will be equipped with 11th generation Intel processors and will go on sale tomorrow. The new Intel processors, codenamed Rocket Lake S, have up to 19 percent higher performance than the previous generation. Despite this performance boost, the top-of-the-line Core i9-11900K uses only eight processor cores, which is two cores less than the Core i9-10900K processor.
Since for most gamers, single-core performance as well as high frequency is important and they do not pay much attention to the multi-core performance of processors, removing two cores does not affect them much. Intel claims that the Core i9-11900K processor performs better in games than ever before.
According to Intel, the new processor in “Microsoft Flight Simulator” in full HD resolution and high settings, up to 14% faster than before.
Although Dell has updated its desktops with the latest Intel processors, the design of the XPS and Aurora R12 has not changed from the past. The XPS desktop still has a box-shaped design that is similar to the latest XPS laptops. However, the Aurora R12 has a forward-looking design and is similar to science fiction movies.
Although Dell equips these products with 11th generation Intel processors, they still can’t be ordered with the new and powerful RTX 3080 or RTX 3090 graphics cards, which is surprising.
It is possible that the lack of inventory of these graphics cards has led to such a decision by Dell, and gamers may have access to these Nvidia GPUs in the future. While the Aurora can be ordered with AMD Advisor processors, Dell does not offer this feature to XPS desktop buyers.
