According to reports, Elon Musk has purchased thousands of acres of land about 35 miles from Austin, Texas, and plans to its own city called Snailbrook make it there for the work and life of the employees.
The Wall Street Journal reports that Musk described the city as a kind of utopia along the Colorado River in Texas. By creating a dedicated city, Elon Musk can set some regulations himself and implement his plans faster. Last year, in an all-staff meeting, Steve Davis, the head of the Boring Company brand, talked about holding an election for Elon Musk’s mayor.
Elon Musk’s settlement is expected to be built adjacent to facilities owned by the Boring Company and SpaceX, which are currently under construction. Currently, the area consists of a number of modular homes and signs hung on pillars that read: Welcome to Snellbrook.
According to reports, Musk wants to make rental housing available to workers at a much lower market rate. Apparently, in one of the advertisements, the price of renting a two- or three-bedroom house is $800. While the same house in Bastrop, Texas, near Elon Musk’s town, costs $2,200 per month. It is interesting to know that Elon Musk has plans to build a similar educational organization in his town.
Texas law requires any county to have at least 201 residents to become part of the state. Documents obtained by the Wall Street Journal show that Elon Musk is looking to build 110 more homes in the area where Snail Brook is located.
Over the past three years, Musk-related entities have purchased at least 3,500 acres in Austin’s public district. Some reports indicate that Musk has up to 6000 hectares of land in this area.

Musk first left California two years ago, calling it “the land of over-regulation, over-regulation and over-taxation,” before moving to Texas. However, last month Tesla announced plans to expand its presence in California and move its engineering headquarters to the state.
It should be said that if Musk builds his own city, he will not be the only Texas billionaire to own a city. In 2021, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban purchased the entire Texas Mustangs for an undisclosed amount.
This city was put up for sale since 2017 with an initial price of 4 million dollars. The price of this city was finally reduced to 2 million dollars, but it did not find a buyer. Mustang is located south of Dallas in Navarro County. However, the city is 77 acres and not even close to what Musk has in mind.
