By updating the so-called “Plan S” strategy, Kia plans to increase the number of its all-electric models to 7 by 2026. In addition, the Korean automaker wants to launch 40% of its total production models by 2030 with hybrid, rechargeable and all-electric propulsion. Such a goal depends on the annual sales of 1.6 million electric vehicles (including hybrid and electric models); Kia says that out of this number, 880,000 units should be equipped with fully electric propulsion.
Kia seems to have revised its Plan S strategy due to the move of other companies, including General Motors and Nissan, to electrify their products. To achieve this goal, in addition to producing seven new electric models, Kia will also develop four hybrid vehicles based on the platform of current petrol models.
According to Kia, the new E-GMP platform will be used in the construction of electric vehicles. The platform is equipped with remote updating capability, and production models based on it will be able to travel up to 310 miles (equivalent to 500 km) in full charge in accordance with the WLTP standard; The Korean automaker has been maneuvering heavily on the platform’s dynamic capabilities, saying that the cars that benefit from it will be able to accelerate from zero to 60 miles (96 km) in less than 3.5 seconds.
Like most companies in the automotive industry, Kia is interested in the transportation business and plans to acquire a stake in it. In the first step, the company wants to introduce the first car with a dedicated application next year. This car will benefit from electric propulsion and a dedicated platform and will be designed and produced with the aim of transporting and delivering goods as well as being used in the general fleet.
Apart from the above, Kia is also interested in the idea of car sharing and intends to combine this idea with a shared service. As announced, the vehicles in the fleet of this service will serve various businesses on weekdays and ordinary citizens on weekends.
It is worth mentioning that Kia is aiming to increase revenue and profitability in 2021. Shares of the company rose dramatically after rumors circulated that the company was working with Apple; But with the denial of any cooperation, Kia shares immediately returned to the way they went, so that the shareholders’ dreams would come true in a tangible event for us Iranians! This rapid return of about $ 5.5 billion will reduce Kia’s market value to highlight Apple’s role in today’s world and its impact in various fields.
You know, Kia is the same company that once made a living by producing Pride deported from developed countries! As the company prepares to increase the number of its electric models, Pride continues to live on and transform from one form to another, without disappearing!
