Samsung initially used the original Victus Gorilla Glass to protect its phones. Then, for the first time, it introduced the improved Victus Plus in the Galaxy S22 series. Now it seems that history is about to repeat itself. The upcoming Galaxy S23 models are expected to be the first phones from the Gorilla Glass Victos 2 resistant glass get benifits.
Apparently, the focus of the second version of Gorilla Glass Victus is on resistance to drops from a height. Phones equipped with this glass are highly resistant in cases such as falling on very uneven surfaces such as concrete from a height of up to 1 meter (approximately the height of a person’s waist) or falling on asphalt from a height of up to 2 meters (the height of a person’s head). However, the improvement in drop resistance did not affect the scratch resistance.
This product appears to be environmentally friendly and contains an average of 22% recycled content. This has caused Gorilla Glass Victus 2 to receive the Environmental Claim Validation mark.
In its press release, Corning Company did not reveal the specifications of the first phones equipped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2. In this statement, there is no mention of the “S23” series. But given the timing of Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event where the S23 series will be unveiled, there’s no doubt that the series will be the first devices equipped with this new generation of toughened glass.
Presumably, the Victus 2 is designed to protect both sides of the phone, just like the Victus+ that protects the back and front of the S22. Commenting on the new glass, Stephanie Choi, executive vice president and marketing director of Samsung MX, said:

The next generation of our Galaxy flagship smartphones are the first devices to feature Gorilla Glass 2, while offering greater durability and improved stability.
