The Google Photo department unveils a new feature called Magic Editor, which is equipped with a generative artificial intelligence. This feature allows users to perform basic photo editing without additional professional tools. This feature was introduced during the Google I/O 2023 event.
During the I/O 2023 event, Google presented examples of Magic Editor feature which were interesting in their own way. In one example, Google decorates a photo of a man next to a waterfall with the help of the mentioned feature. With the help of this feature, the position of the man in the image is changed, the people in the background of the waterfall are removed, and the color of the sky is also changed.
In the second example, the Magic Editor function was able to change the position of the child and the bench in the image below. In this image, “Google” changes the color of the sky as desired. You can see the image changed by the Magic Editor function at the bottom of the page:

The possibility of the Magic Editor feature being exclusive to the Pixel series phones
This feature is undoubtedly a logical next step from photo features like Photo Unblur and Magic Eraser. Although Magic Editor’s ability to edit some elements in the photo does not work perfectly, but still there is a new opportunity for users to question the nature of the “photo”. Some experts compare Google’s Magic Editor to iPhone 14’s sharpening feature and Samsung’s Fake Moon feature.
“Google” announced that this feature will be activated for users at the end of this year. The company also confirmed that the feature will be available in the test section of select Pixel phones. There are rumors that the Magic Editor feature will be released exclusively for Pixel 8 and Pixel Pro phones.
