HTC has not been active in the high-end flagship phone market for some time. In fact, the last time HTC launched a high-end flagship phone was back in 2018 when we saw the launch of the HTC U12+. The phone had interesting features like a flat back panel and completely buttonless design, which seemed unique at the time. But despite such specifications, it was still not welcomed and left the competition to iPhone Xs and Galaxy S9. Now it looks like HTC is about to Return to the high-end phone market after many years and is making a new phone.
Looks like HTC is getting ready to turn the market upside down. Recently, the company introduced two new entry-level phones called Wildfire E2 Play and Wildfire E3 Plus. It looks like the company has a lot to learn. Because again we are faced with two phones with completely confusing names and poor overall features.
Of course, the said devices are intended for developing markets and will likely see a limited release in very specific parts of the world.
HTC is preparing to make a new high-end phone
Some time ago, an HTC phone named U23 Pro appeared in the Geekbench 6 benchmark, which seems to be a high-end product. Until now, the HTC U prefix has always been used for flagship phones, and there is no reason to believe that this will change; Especially if it comes with the Peru suffix.
HTC U23 Pro on Geekbench

According to information on the Geekbench page, this smartphone is equipped with an octa-core processor that generates a frequency of around 2.4 GHz. It is interesting to know that these specifications match the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Of course, HTC U23 Pro’s single-core test score is higher and its multi-core test score is slightly lower than phones equipped with this chip.
In any case, the chip used in this phone may be Snapdragon 7 generation 1. This processor was launched in 2022 and has been developed mostly for budget gaming phones. Qualcomm packed the chip with all its technologies for fast touch response, spatial audio, isolated sound recording and pristine touch, and removed some unnecessary peripherals from the camera and other parts to make it more affordable.
In addition, the HTC U23 Pro R comes with 12 GB of RAM, which confirms that this smartphone will be a flagship device.
When will the HTC U23 Pro be released?
At this point, HTC hasn’t said anything, so we’re still in the dark. In fact, the only information we have is this Geekbench listing. HTC is expected to revolutionize the market in the future with unique and exotic phone designs that cannot be found anywhere else.
It is worth mentioning that, considering that the phone in question has an official name (Geekbench does not introduce it as a number or a strange project name), it seems that the HTC U23 Pro is almost ready to be unveiled. Of course, all this is under the assumption that the information in the desired list is correct. However, we have to wait and see how this brand wants to return to the high-end phone market.
