MediaTek is apparently working on a new flagship chipset called Dimension 2000, which will be produced with 4-nanometer lithography and will be available in late 2021 or 2022. This chipset could be a competitor to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 898.
MediaTek is currently competing with the Dimension 1100 and 1200 with the Snapdragon 888, but both processors are less powerful than the Qualcomm chipset because of their cores. said MediaTek will use the Cortex-X2 core for its chipset to have a say against Snapdragon 898.
It was previously rumored that the Dimension 2000 would be made with 5-nanometer lithography, but the latest report mentions the use of 4-nanometer lithography. The power of the X2 core is at least 17% higher than that of the X1, and its energy consumption is reduced by up to 10%. In addition, the Dimension 2000 will likely have significant upgrades to the A710 and A510 cores, which will increase the performance of this chipset. The MediaTek chip is built with the ARM v9 architecture, which offers high power in some areas, including artificial intelligence.
The Dimension 2000 will be stronger than the Snapdragon 888 in terms of GPU, but no information has been released yet. According to the latest report, Dimensity 2000 will be available to customers in small batches by the end of the year. In addition, the first group of manufacturers is said to have begun the necessary tests, and if all goes well, the chip may be introduced at the same time as the Snapdragon 898.
It is worth mentioning that Snapdragon 898 will be made with a 4-nanometer production process. So these two chips are easily placed in front of each other and obviously many comparisons can be made between them. With Samsung working with AMD on a more powerful chip this year, it looks like a very exciting year ahead for mobile chips.
