The Exynos 2200 will be Samsung’s first chipset to feature an AMD graphics processor. A new report has revealed information such as the chip’s password and GPU, claiming that the flagship chipset will be manufactured in a 4-nanometer process.
According to an informed source named «Ice UniverseExynos 2200 chipset codenamed “Pamir” is in production and is made with 4-nanometer lithography. It is unclear, however, whether Samsung’s own manufacturers will manufacture the chip or whether it will be outsourced to TSMC.
TSMC is under a lot of pressure due to the global shortage of chips, and its production lines are operating at full capacity. On the other hand, given that even Qualcomm is likely to outsource the production of the Snapdragon 895 to Samsung, it seems more likely that the company will produce the Exynos 2200 chipset in its own factories.
The source of today’s report says that the graphics processor of the flagship chip of the Galaxy S22 series, which will be the result of cooperation between AMD and Samsung, uses the code name “Voyager”. We expect the chip to finally make up for its weaknesses and compete directly with Qualcomm and Apple’s flagship chipset. Earlier, it was reported that the chipset is more powerful in terms of CPU than the Snapdragon 895 and in terms of GPU, in addition to the Qualcomm chip, it is more powerful than Apple’s A15 Bionic.
However, we have to wait and see what the energy consumption of the Exynos 2200 will be like. The chip is likely to use the steam chamber again for cooling, but until we test it in practice, we can not be sure of the current benchmarks and reports.
As usual, we expect to see this chipset in the Galaxy S22 series. Samsung introduces the flagships of the Galaxy S series earlier this year, and the Galaxy S22 should be no exception.
