Nvidia is working on a new RTX 3060 with GA104 chip and GDDR6X memory.

XX60 class graphics cards are the most popular and best-selling graphics cards from Nvidia. Since the price of graphics card increases from generation to generation, users may no longer want to buy cards of this class and switch to lower class cards or older cards. It was for this reason that Nvidia introduced an 8 GB version of the RTX 3060 graphics card a few months ago, and now it is working on a new version of it. With GA104 processor and GDDR6X memory Works.

The RTX 3060 graphics card has several versions and has been modified several times. The main model of this graphic card is equipped with a GA106-300 processor and 12 GB of memory, and an LHR version (mining limited) and an 8 GB version are also available.

The interesting thing is that a fourth version is going to be added to the current three versions of RTX 3060, a version equipped with GA104 processor and GDDR6X memory. Using a processor of a different class in a graphics card is common among Nvidia products, but these cards are not usually available universally. The main market of these graphics cards is the domestic market of China.

With this account, we will have four versions of the RTX 3060 graphics card so far:

  • GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 – GA106-300
  • GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 LHR – GA106-302
  • GeForce RTX 3060 8GB GDDR6 – GA106-302
  • GeForce RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6X – GA104

The most important upgrade that this new version receives is the new GDDR6X memories. The RTX 3060 Ti graphics card received this upgrade a few months ago, and the G6X version has 36% more memory bandwidth than the G6 version.

This news was published by the T4CFantasy Twitter account, which is a member of the TechPowerUP team and has access to the GPU-z graphics card database. Therefore, this graphics card may have been seen for the first time on this database.

Of course, keep in mind that this news is just a rumor for now. Many test graphics cards and engineering samples exist on these databases and never reach mass production. The new version of RTX 3060 may be one of these examples.
