Razer’s new Kiyo Pro Ultra 4K webcam Priced at $299.99, it’s available today on Razer’s website and retail stores. Razer says its new webcam is equipped with a 1/1.2-inch Sony Starvis 2 sensor and offers the same quality as professional DSLR cameras. The Razer Kiyo Pro Ultra appears to be the largest sensor ever used in a webcam. This webcam offers f/1.7 aperture which can create bokeh effect in a natural way. Also, this aperture probably makes Razer’s webcam perform very well in low light.

Razer’s Kiyo Pro Ultra webcam specifications

Like most webcams these days, the Kiyo Pro Ultra was designed to discourage content creators from buying expensive DSLR cameras. Razer’s new webcam looks a bit like a DSLR camera lens. Its design is similar to the Kiyo Pro 2021, which recorded video at 1080p resolution and 60fps frame rate. It is difficult to distinguish the Kiyo Pro Ultra from the previous model. Of course, the new model makes it possible to block the path of the sensor. In the new model, the user can block the line of sight by turning the webcam.

Razer says the Pro Ultra beats the Logitech Brio and Elgato Facecam Pro webcams by delivering uncompressed 4K video at 24fps, or 1440p/30fps. The device can record 1080p video at 60fps or 30fps with HDR. (Facecam Pro can record uncompressed 1080p/60fps video). If you don’t care about compression, the Facecam Pro makes more sense because, unlike Razer’s new webcam, it can also record 4K video at a frame rate of 60fps. However, the Kiyo Pro Ultra has a 360-degree microphone, but the Facecam Pro does not.

The Kiyo Pro Ultra is a plug-and-play device, but to customize many of its features, you need to use the Synapse app released for PC. Through this application, you can do things like change the digital zoom and activate the new face tracking feature with artificial intelligence. In addition, it is also possible to customize things like shutter speed, exposure and the speed of finding the main subject. Kiyo Pro Ultra has dedicated memory to remember your settings even if connected to a new computer.

Companies like to compare their webcams to DSLR cameras, but we have to remember that video quality is only one of the hallmarks of a great webcam. Other features are the quality of the microphone, reliability, the efficiency of the mobile application and face tracking.
