Researchers have come up with a new way to fight Alzheimer's with the help of light and oxygen

Researchers at the University of Tokyo have used a new catalytic combination of light and oxygen to target the structure of the amyloid protein, which is closely linked to Alzheimer’s disease, in the brains of mice. It is hoped that this method can be effective in treating people with this disease.

Researchers to eliminate amyloid protein in the brains of Alzheimer’s patients from a combination of light and oxygen They got help. They injected the molecule directly into the brains of living mice with the disease. They were then irradiated into the rats’ brains every day for 30 minutes, using specialized tools. The researchers then found that with this approach, the amount of amyloid protein was reduced.

If further research confirms the effectiveness of this method, it can be used as an alternative to immunotherapy and it will also be effective in treating other diseases caused by amyloid.

“Yukiko Hori, a professor at the University of Tokyo and a researcher on the project, says:

“By targeting amyloid protein, we can hope to boost the immune system against certain diseases.”

In this method, by oxygenating the amyloid, the chemical bonds of this protein become unstable. When the chemical bonds of this protein are altered, its state becomes unstable. The same principle applies to bleaches and disinfectants that cause chemical bonds to be unstable.

In fact, oxygen and then light as catalysts target the amyloid structure. This catalyst does not work without infrared light and is completely ineffective. In the future, researchers plan to inject the catalyst into the bloodstream throughout the body and activate it using light in specific areas.

Researchers are continuing their research in this area and they hope to be able to start clinical trials on the human brain as well.
