News of the entry of Mapna Industrial Group into the field of automobile manufacturing, It has been in the media since last year And was noticed by people and experts. Many react positively to this news and consider it in the direction of breaking the car industry monopoly. But others do not have much hope for this. Mapna has focused most of its entry into the automotive industry on all-electric propulsion. To this end, it has made Meko, as its subsidiary, responsible for advancing the project to build the first domestically built electric car.
According to Mapna, the research and development of the propulsion and technical equipment of this car has been done inside Iran by the group’s own engineers, but for the body and chassis, they have gone for a relatively anonymous Chinese pickup. Today we want to know more about the first Mapna car and, in a way, the first all-electric car localized in Iran.
The pickup used by Mapna’s room belongs to the Chinese company Kawei. Jiangsu Kawei Automotive Industrial Group Co., Ltd. is a well-known and not very well-known company located in the Dan Yang area of Jiangsu Province, China. Kawei offers this pickup in two models, K1 and EV7. The first model is the regular petrol version of this pickup, but the second version is, in fact, its all-electric model. Kawei first unveiled the K1 in 2014 at the Beijing Auto Show.
The Kawei K1 in China is priced from 75,800 to 132,800 yuan, depending on the level of features. Perhaps the only interesting thing about choosing this car to install Mapna electric propulsion is its high resemblance to American pickups. The point is that due to the absence of Americans in the Iranian market, it can help sell the first Mapna electric pickup.
Another thing that comes to mind is that in addition to the similarities in appearance, there may be technical commonalities between the Kawei EV7 and the Mapna electric pickup. Meanwhile, Mapna executives are proud to speak about the localization of electric vehicle manufacturing technology for the first time in Iran by themselves.
In fact, this pickup selected by Mapna, has been marketed in 2017 in the form of an all-electric version by the Chinese manufacturer and is currently available in China. Therefore, Mapna engineers have probably chosen a car that is more compatible with the company’s equipment in terms of standardity, despite the all-electric version, in order to make the body more compatible with electric propulsion.
Thus, it is said that the Mapna electric pickup uses a package of batteries with a capacity of 48.6 kWh. The pickup with these batteries is able to travel 300 km for each charge. These advanced batteries add 400 kg to the net weight of this pickup.
The maximum power of the electric motor of this pickup is approximately 70 to 120 kW (about 93 to 160 hp). Its torque reaches 335 Nm. According to the official catalog published by Mapna, this pickup with the mentioned technical specifications is able to reach 100 km / h from a standstill in 11.5 seconds. The maximum speed available with this car is 170 km / h.
Regarding the dimensions, it should be said that the length, width and height of Mapna pickup are 5600, 1590 and 1805 mm, respectively. The Mapna pickup, while having a large cargo space and can carry up to 1000 kg of cargo, with a wheelbase of 3500 mm, also provides a relatively spacious space inside the cabin for the occupants.
It should be noted that the net weight of this pickup is 2230 kg, which in case of using the maximum load capacity, this weight reaches 3230 kg. The process of fully charging Mapna pickup batteries takes 8 hours if connected to a household electrical outlet. But if you have access to a 50 kW fast charger, you can charge up to 80% of the capacity of these batteries.
Cost is perhaps the most important factor in the ultimate success of the first Mapna electric pickup. The Chinese version of this car, or Kawei EV7, is worth 259,800 yuan (approximately 1 billion tomans) in the Chinese market, which has been reduced to 115,000 yuan (about 460 million tomans) thanks to government incentives.
In the Chinese domestic market, the Kawei EV7 competes with the electric version of the Jack T8, or KMC T8. But in our country’s market, due to the absence of the electric version of the pickup jack, the Mapna pickup is almost unrivaled. Mapna has not yet announced how this product will be sold and priced, but given the large investments made in it and the high price of the battery and electrical equipment package, it seems unlikely that it will be cheaper than competitors such as the KMC T8, Amico Asna. And photons are priced.
However, it is interesting that informed sources about this project report that Mapna’s plan for the direct launch of this car to the market is unclear. In fact, it is not yet clear whether Mapna has a desire to operate in the automotive industry or is only going to operate as a technology vendor in partnership with the country’s major automakers, but it is interesting to know that in this regard and a while ago ٬ Jack J4 Chinese car electrification project with the participation of Kerman The engine was started by Mapna and is in progress.
