According to a new statement from Sony, the PlayStation Plus Collection section will be phased out soon.
Sony has announced that from date May 9, 2023 (May 19, 1402)Plus subscribers are no longer able to access the games in the collection section of this service. Until the implementation of this order, players can still get the games of this section and will have access to them as long as they are among the Plus subscribers.
What is the PlayStation Plus Collection section?
The PS Plus Collection section is a library of PS4 games that is exclusively available to PS5 users who are also subscribers to this premium service. In fact, the PS Plus Collection section consisted of 20 titles (10 First-Party and 10 Third-Party) until last May, the critically acclaimed Persona 5 was removed from the section.
Jim Ryan, head of Sony’s entertainment department, said:
We also wanted to give an update on the PlayStation Plus collection. This feature was available to users when the PlayStation 5 console was released in 2020, as one of the exclusive benefits of this new generation console. On May 9th of this year, we are going to shut down the PlayStation Plus Collection for good. Players can prepare the games of this section before May 9.
