Embracer Group has announced that five new games from the Lords of the Rings franchise will be released between April 2023 and March 2024.
According to the wccftech website, Embracer Group announced in August of last year that it has acquired the ownership of the Lord of the Rings franchise. After that, the company said it was thinking about using the franchise for decades to come. Despite not announcing a comprehensive plan, the company plans to introduce five new games from The Lord of the Rings series in the 2023/2024 fiscal year.
Embracer Group revealed in its recent quarterly financial report that these games are currently being developed by external development partners. Also, a new movie from the world of J.R. R. Tolkien will be produced by an unspecified studio.
Five new Lord of the Rings games; Introducing Gollum and Return to Moria titles
So far, the media of the news agency informs about the release of two games from the Lord of the Rings franchise in the near future. The first Gollum game is developed by Daedalic Entertainment. This action-adventure game was first announced in 2019 and was supposed to be released in 2021. Then Deadalic studio postponed the release date of the game to September 2022; But the release date of the game was delayed again. Players hope to finally experience this title in 2023.
The second introduced game from Tolkien’s world named The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria is where the players appear as hobbits (the story of the game takes place in the fourth period of Middle-earth). Return to Moria game is developed by the California studio Free Range Games. The game is expected to be available this year for the PC platform through the Epic Store.
Therefore, Embracer Group has not yet officially announced three games from the Lord of the Rings franchise. The company also announced that some games of this series will be made for mobile phones.
