The Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor is AMD’s 16-core, 32-thread flagship processor, which is actually a version of the Ryzen 9 7950X processor with 64 MB of 3D V-Cache memory. Recently, an entry related to the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor has been seen on the Geekbench database. This processor will be the flagship of AMD’s AM5 Zen 4 processors, which will be officially released by the end of February.

As we said, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor was recently spotted on Geekbench and tested using an Asus X670E Hero motherboard and 32GB of DDR5 memory with an unspecified frequency. As the Geekbench entry shows, the frequency of this processor changes from 5.1 to 5.7 GHz during this test.

In general, X3D processors do not show their maximum power in computing benchmarks such as Geekbench. This issue has been known since the release of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor as AMD’s first 3D V-Cache processor. As the X3D version of the R7 5800X processor, this processor showed the same performance as the 5800X processor in computing benchmarks. The cache memory shows its main effect mostly in gaming and unfortunately Geekbench is not gaming-like at all in terms of the kind of pressure it puts on the processor.

By the way, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D scored single-core and multi-core scores of 2157 and 21841 on Geekbench. These scores are for Geekbench V5 and not V6, so the scores may change in the new Geekbench update.

The single-core and multi-core scores of this processor are 5% and 2% lower than the R9 7950X processor, respectively. However, we must not forget that the scores recorded for the 7950X processor are actually the average score of several tests performed with this processor, while the score of the 7950X3D processor is from a single Geekbench run. In addition, we do not know the frequency of the memory used in the test, nor the BIOS version of the motherboard.

AMD is set to launch the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and Ryzen 9 7900X3D processors on February 28th, and what is clear is that reviewers have received these processors and are busy testing them. Therefore, more information about the technical performance of these processors will be published in the coming days.
