As announced by Konami, the Metal Gear Solid series of games has sold a total of 59.8 million copies worldwide as of March 31 (April 11, 1402). This amount of sales includes all the main and minor versions of this popular series. The total sales of MGS games reached 59.5 million copies by the end of last year. Hence, a significant number of titles in the said series have been sold since then.
In the latest rumors, Konami plans to Metal Gear Solid series revive for fans of the action-mystery genre. In the past, there were many rumors about the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 by the Chinese studio Virtuos. But this time, this project is going to be officially introduced at the PlayStation event. The PlayStation Showcase will be held on May 24. The game is expected to be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console in 2024.
