Xiaomi passed away in a ceremony of Poco X5 series phones, namely Poco X5 and Poco X5 Peru unveiled. Poco X5 Pro 5G is the most important member of this family. This smartphone uses a 120Hz display, a 6nm Snapdragon 778G chip and a 108MP camera.
One of the characteristics of the Poco X series is that they use a screen with a high refresh rate, a large battery with fast charging, and a powerful processor. The X5 series also offers all these features. But the Pro model of the X5 series, Poco X5 Pro, which was recently unveiled, is equipped with a 108 megapixel sensor. This means that the new model is focused on the camera, which is something that rarely happens in this family.
Specifications of Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro

Xiaomi Poco X5 Pro is the successor of X4 Pro which was unveiled last year. The chassis of the new model is narrower. In fact, with a thickness of 7.9 mm, this device will be the thinnest Poco X series phone and the third thin Poco family phone that has been produced so far. In other words, there are only a few F-series phones in the Poco family that are slimmer than this one.
The main upgrade of this generation is the use of TSMC’s 6nm Snapdragon 778G chip with Adreno 642L graphics processor. The new chipset is significantly faster compared to the Snapdragon 695 that powered the X4 Pro.
This year, Xiaomi equipped the Poco X Pro model with twice the base storage at 128GB, but kept the base RAM at 6GB. If you need more memory than either, there’s a 256/8GB option (both models use LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 internal storage). This phone uses Android 12 with MIUI 14 user interface.
The screen is another thing that has been improved in this device. The device’s display is still a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. However, it now offers a 10-bit panel with 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Screen brightness has been increased during boot up to a maximum of 900 nits (up from 700 nits). Dimming is done by a PWM system with a high frequency of 1920 Hz. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
The camera system is almost the same as the previous generation. This means the main module has a 108-megapixel 1/1.52-inch sensor, along with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide (120-degree) camera and a 2-megapixel macro camera. The 16-megapixel selfie camera is also located in the display hole.
Of course, this does not mean that the camera has not changed at all. Because the Snapdragon 778G brings a faster ISP (2 Gbps) and a more powerful NPU (12 TOPS). The most notable upgrade also concerns the ability to record 4K video (compared to the previous generation’s 1080p video recording at 30 frames per second). In addition, the use of the camera has also become faster, for example, taking normal mode photos is up to 69% faster and night mode photography is up to 38% faster.
The new chipset enables faster local connectivity with Wi-Fi 6 (ax) and Bluetooth 5.2 (up from Wi-Fi 5 and BT 5.1). Additionally, there’s a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster, and (at least in some regions) NFC.
The phone also has a USB-C port that charges the 5000mAh battery at 67W using the included charger. The Poco X5 Pro is available in blue, black and the brand’s trademark yellow.
Specifications of Xiaomi Poco X5

The Xiaomi Poco X5 uses the same Snapdragon 695 chipset as the X4 Pro, but the base storage space has been doubled (128GB). Like the Pro version, this model also has a 256/8GB version and has a microSD slot to expand the internal memory up to 1TB more. Note that this phone also has a hybrid slot. The vanilla model comes with the older MIUI 13 user interface.
Similar to the Pro version, this model uses a 6.67-inch screen with FHD+ resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate. However, it is an 8-bit panel and uses the older Gorilla Glass 3. The peak brightness of this model is higher and reaches a maximum of 1200 nits.
The camera and battery of this model are more similar to the hypothetical vanilla Poco X4 (Xiaomi has never released such a phone). This phone is equipped with a 48 megapixel main camera and in the video recording department it is limited to 1080p video recording due to the chipset. An ultra-wide camera of 8 megapixels (118 degrees) and a macro of 2 megapixels are also located on the back panel. A 13-megapixel selfie camera is also installed in the front.
The battery capacity is 5000 mAh. But the charging speed has been reduced to 33 watts. There is a charger in the box of this phone and a 33 watt adapter that can fully charge the phone in 68 minutes.
While this model’s wireless connectivity is somewhat older than the Pro’s (Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.1), the X5 still has a 3.5mm headphone jack, an IR blaster and (in some areas) NFC.
Poco X5 and Poco X5 Pro price
The vanilla Poco X5 with 6GB/128GB is available for $250/€250. The price of the 8/256 GB model is 300 dollars/300 euros. However, the starting prices for both options bring the cost down to $200/€200 and $250/€250, respectively.
