A new IDC report shows that the global market for wearables and audio products grew slightly in the third quarter of 2021. Apple has lost some of its market share with a slight decline, and instead Samsung has experienced more sales.
According to the latest report of the research company IDCSales of smartwatches and audio products in the third quarter of 2021 experienced an annual growth of 9.9%. Apple still holds the throne, but its market share fell slightly from 32.8% in the third quarter of 2020 to 28.8% in the third quarter of 2021.
Despite declining market share, Apple still holds more than half the market value of wearables. IDC says the Apple Watch 7 Series has not been very successful, but AirPod and Bates products are still among the best-selling devices in this category. Samsung has had a great season and is second only to Xiaomi. The two companies each have a 9.2% market share, but the main difference is in their annual growth rate.
Successful performance of the Galaxy Watch 4 in the wearable market
While Samsung has grown 13.8 percent over the same period last year, Xiaomi has fallen 23.8 percent. The Koreans owe much of this success to the successful performance of the Galaxy Watch 4 series. However, IDC says that bundled product supply is another reason for the increase in sales of Samsung products.
In fourth place is Huawei, which has grown its market share to 7.9% with an annual growth of 3.7%. According to the report, a total of 138 million wearables were sold in the third quarter of 2021. IDC claims that consumers prefer cheap smartwatches to health bracelets. It seems that access to more features is a higher priority for users.
